A security guard was declared dead on the spot after he was run over by a truck at Hacienda Panaogao 2, Silay City, Negros Occidental, Monday evening.
Police identified the fatality as 48-year-old Jaime Bio, a resident of Hacienda Velez, Murcia, Negros Occidental.
Silay City police traffic investigator, Senior Police Officer 4 (SPO4) Rodrigo Aspara, said, at the time of the incident, Bio was driving his motorcycle and following a cane truck, driven by 27-year-old Aljohn Gregorio.
Bio tried to overtake the said truck, but miscalculated his approach due to a portion of road being repaired in the area.
The victim tried to return to his lane but hit the side of the truck, causing him to crash his motorcycle.
Bio was then run over by the back tire of the truck, causing his instantaneous death. His motorcycle was also dragged for a few more meters before coming to a stop.
Bio’s family was immediately informed of the incident, while Gregorio was taken into custody by Silay City Police Station to await the family’s decision to file vehicular manslaughter charges./WDJ
