In response to Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo Tan announcing his intention to run for Congress in 2019, incumbent Bacolod Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya said he cannot stop him from running.
“It’s his right,” he said. “It’s a matter I cannot stop.”
The congressman also pointed out he has yet to speak with Tan about the issue.
“[Tan] called me up Tuesday last week, but when I called him back, he did not answer,” he said.
Last week, the city councilor announced plans to run for congress in 2019, noting he had previously informed Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia of his intentions to seek higher office immediately after winning his city council position./WDJ
