During the Provincial Peace and Order Council-Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council Meeting (PPOC-PADAC) in Talisay City yesterday, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Jesus Hinlo said the agency is continuing their efforts to support the retention of the Negros Island Region (NIR).
“Rest assured there is a continuing effort in the DILG that supports our stand on NIR retention,” he asserted.
It was also revealed, newly-appointed DILG OIC Catalino Cuy also conveyed his support for the region.
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., who gave the welcoming address, offered his appreciation for the continued support for NIR.
Following the dismissal of former DILG Secretary Ismael Sueno, who Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson referred to as a “champion” for NIR, Hinlo thanked Sueno for his support for retention.
Last month, Hinlo said he was planning to personally appeal to President Rodrigo Duterte for the retention of the region./WDJ
