The Iloilo Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) invested P16.4 million towards the construction of 25 rainwater harvesting systems, along with 42 ferro-cement water storage tanks at public schools.
The rainwater harvesting systems will be placed near evacuation sites in Tubungan, Miagao, Lambunao, Calinog, Ajuy, Dumangas, San Miguel, Banate, Alimodian, Badiangan, Barotac Nuevo, Bingawan, and Carles.
PENRO will also be giving priority to evacuation centers in Dueñas, Janiuay, Leganes, Pavia, Passi City, Pototan, San Enrique, Zarraga, Tigbauan, Oton, San Rafael, and New Lucena.
Meanwhile, each ferro-cement water storage tank can hold 4,000 liters of rainwater, which can be used in maintaining school restrooms, classrooms, hand-washing areas, and gardens./WDJ
