The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will soon initiate “Oplan: Sumvac,” which will focus security at beach resorts, hotels, tourist spots, and transportation terminals with the onset of summer vacation.
According to BCPO spokesperson, Police Superintendent Noel Polines, there is no set number of officers to be deployed, but it will be incumbent on the area where they will be concentrated.
Meanwhile, police will also be on high alert beginning Sunday, on Palm Sunday, for the beginning of Holy Week.
During that time, Polines explained, police assistance desks will be set up at churches, seaports, and bus terminals, along with the establishment of checkpoints and road assistance desks in the outskirts of the city.
He also said there would be intensified mobile patrols in residential areas and that law enforcement would monitor for a rise in “akyat bahay” incidents as many will be away for the holiday period.
Polines advised the public, particularly those active on social media, to avoid posts informing the public they are out of town. He suggests posting such information after returning home.
He also suggested, when away, to ensure all electrical switches are off, as to avoid fire hazards./WDJ
