At least 10 former drug personalities who “graduated” from the Iloilo City Community Change Center, a rehabilitation center called “Crossroads,” were recently hired as cargo handlers and promotional representatives following a Public Employment Service Office (PESO) job fair at the Barangay Railway gym, earlier this month.
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog called the initiative “fruitful” and “beneficial,” and encouraged beneficiaries to take advantage of free services, including skills training from the Technical Institute of Iloilo City and livelihood opportunities from PESO.
Some 207 former drug dependents completed the three-month rehabilitation program at centers across seven districts in January./WDJ
