Hinigaran Mayor Nadie Arceo announced, yesterday, Coca-Cola products will be banned from this year’s Hinugyaw Festival, which will take place from April 20 to 30.
Arceo was a part of the recent demonstration held outside the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, protesting both high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol.
Earlier this month, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. said Coca-Cola products will also be banned at the upcoming Panaad sa Negros Festival. The move was supported by Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and the Negros Occidental Provincial Board through a resolution passed two weeks ago.
The annual festival is set to take place from April 22 to 30 at the Panaad Park and Stadium./WDJ
