After former Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent William Señoron, declared he would shoot himself if the allegations linking him to illegal drugs were proven true, Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18) Director, Police Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, said, “Just do it.”
“You said that, you should do it,” Gumban said in a radio interview yesterday.
Earlier this week, Gumban ordered the relief of Señoron and five other police officers named by self-proclaimed Berya drug group paymaster Ricky Serenio in a supplemental affidavit.
Serenio claimed Señoron received P1.2 million a month from various drug lords in Negros Occidental, including the Berya drug group. This is in addition to the P200,000 he said the former NOPPO chief received, as cited in his initial affidavit.
Gumban said allegations about Señoron have been around for five years, but no investigation was conducted due to a lack of witnesses.
Also named in the supplemental affidavit was former Himamaylan City police chief, Police Superintendent Antonietto Cañete, who denied he received protection money at a shopping mall in Bacolod City./WDJ
