Roy Cordova was officially declared the winner of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) District 4 special election, yesterday morning, after running unopposed for director of Bacolod City-East, which includes Barangays Villamonte, Montevista, Alangilan, Granada, Estefania, Vista Alegre, Mansilingan, and Abkasa.
Cordova ran unopposed after labor leader Wennie Sancho was disqualified by the screening committee, due to his affiliation as a member of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) for the Western Visayas.
According to Sancho, he was disqualified after he failed to submit certification from the RTWPB indicating he is authorized to run.
Ceneco conducted special elections after elections in Districts 4 and 5, back on March 4, were declared a failure due to a lack of candidates.
Ceneco Consumers Services Division chief Roel Venus said elections closed early because Cordova was unopposed and there were no candidates for District 5.
Meanwhile, Cordova said he will continue his advocacy to serve Ceneco consumers by upholding their interests as their representative on the board./WDJ
