Yesterday’s rally at the Bacolod Public Plaza, led by Bayan-Negros, was peaceful.
According to Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Director, Police Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, several group members rally along Rizal Street, in front of the plaza, in an anti-imperialism protest as the ASEAN meetings were taking place at the SMX Convention Center.
In response, law enforcement police personnel were deployed to the area.
Wanky said, despite the protesters’ lack of a permit to demonstrate, they were still allowed to air their grievances provided they were orderly and peaceful.
