Liga ng mga Barangay (Liga) of Bacolod City President Noli Villarosa shot back at the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) for their aggressive campaign against colorum tricycles.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, yesterday, he reiterated his claims they are only going after tricycle drivers who are not supporters of the Grupo Progreso, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia’s political coalition.
Villarosa insisted there is no existing city ordinance that would support the current campaign of the city government in apprehending colorum tricycles.
Earlier this month, BTAO head, Police Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, said, “We don’t have to coordinate with [Villarosa] because we are implementing the city ordinance, and the barangay cannot supercede an ordinance.”
The Barangay Tangub captain earlier claimed BTAO had to coordinate with him first before conducting their operations.
Villarosa, however, conceded nearly all the tricycle units in Barangay Tangub are colorum, or those who don’t have the necessary papers or franchise permits./WDJ
