Following the Liga ng mga Barangay-Negros Occidental (Liga-Negros Occidental) Provincial Congress, which took place earlier this month in Ilocos Norte, Liga-Negros Occidental President Anabelle Bermudo reported former Senator Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. endorsed the retention of the Negros Island Region (NIR).
She said both Marcos and Liga-Philippines President Edmund Abesamis expressed their support.
“They pledged support before the 548 Punong Barangays from Negros Occidental during the Provincial Congress,” the provincial board member explained.
In a Facebook post, the former senator wrote, “Kaisa ninyo ako sa inyong mga programa upang mapabuti ang buhay ng bawat Negrense at ng lahat ng Pilipino (We are together in your programs to improve the lives of every Negrense and all Filipinos).”
Bermudo noted, beyond the retention of NIR, also discussed during the convention were federalism and Masa Masid (Mamamayang Ayaw sa Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw sa Iligal na Droga), the barangay-based program to combat illegal drugs and other criminality./WDJ
