Diocese of Bacolod social communications head, Rev. Fr. Felix Pasquin, said the revised “Oplan: Tokhang” is far different than the months before it was suspended by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In a text message, he said it is apparent the new “tokhang” operations are less bloody.
He said the PNP appears to be more conscious in avoiding violent confrontation against illegal drug suspects.
Pasquin said he hopes police will concentrate on a more “humane face” in their operations, with the intention of saving and rehabilitating the pusher, user, and the drug lords.
Earlier this month, the PNP was cleared by Director General Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa to return to anti-drug operations.
Under the new revision, cops can only perform their “tokhang” operations with the presence of barangay officials, police station commanders, and a priest or representative of a religious group./WDJ
