Father and son politicos, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. and Rep. Arthur Defensor, Jr., split ways on their position regarding the death penalty, with the congressman voting for House Bill 4727, the restoration of capital punishment.
The governor said his son has his own mind.
“I respect Congressman Defensor in this matter,” he stated.
The elder Defensor has long opposed the death penalty, recently noting many are clamoring for the revival of the death penalty, yet Filipinos would move heaven and earth to spare the life of those convicted – citing the Mary Jane Veloso case as an example./WDJ
