The city government of Bacolod provided the 393 Palarong NIR medalists of the Bacolod City delegation cash incentives totaling P302,500 during a ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), yesterday.
“I am happy and proud as your city mayor,” said Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who led the ceremony alongside Bacolod City Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Demavivas.
For individual events, gold medalists received P1,000, silver medalists were given P600, and bronze medalists received P500. For team events, depending on the size of the team, medalists received anywhere between P600 and P1,500.
Also present during the ceremony were City Councilor Bartolome Orola, Executive Assistant Moises Dela Cruz, City Hall Sports Consultant George Zulueta, Department of Education (DepEd) Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) Supervisor Eden Ariola, and Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) sports coordinator Jose Dante Albao.
Bacolod City was declared overall champion of the Palarong NIR 2017 held in Dumaguete City from February 24 to March 1./WDJ
