The Bacolod City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 54 has yet to decide on a petition for bail, filed by Berya drug group member Ricky Serenio, on charges involving illegal possession of explosives.
Yesterday morning, Serenio was transported to the Bacolod City Hall of Justice, along with Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña, in order to hear his petition for bail before Branch 54 Judge Eduardo Sayson.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) explosives expert, Demmy Montoya, also attended the hearing, as he was the official who recovered the grenade allegedly owned by Serenio, but later retracted his statement as the alleged grenade did not contain any explosive powder or detonator.
Following the hearing, Sayson ordered both the prosecution panel and Serenio’s camp to submit a memorandum within five days explaining why they should or should not give Serenio the ability to post bail.
Serenio was arrested in January of this year, after members of the Regional Special Operations Task Group (RSOTG) tracked him down in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Following his arrest, he revealed the alleged links of several police, law enforcement agents, and media men to the Berya drug group./WDJ
